New Orleans named top ‘Thrill City’

As New Orleans continues to celebrate its tricentennial, more top honors are coming in — this time it’s a ranking as the Best Place for a Big Trip in the entire world.

Thrillist Travel says it’s a party 300 years in the making and they note that every single festival this year is getting a 300th year birthday upgrade.

GNO Inc. CEO Michael Hecht likes the press.

“Everybody is now encouraged to see our great museums, including the World War Two museum, everyone being encouraged to take in City Park and much more, to explore outside the urban core,” said Hecht.

They noted that Bourbon Street received a $6 million facelift, along with street car expansion and sites to see along the riverfront.

“It’s great to get these accolades and it reinforces New Orleans as a brand that’s truly loved around the world,” Hecht said.

Thrillist writes at no point should you skip the ongoing exhibition Prospect 4, a treasure map of murals and sculptures raising the city’s up-and-coming arts profile beyond the blur of purple and green.
