2023 GNO Jobs Report: Explore the top occupations in the region

GNO, Inc. and Bank of America Release the Fourth Greater New Orleans Jobs Report

Today, Greater New Orleans, Inc. (GNO, Inc.) and Bank of America released the 2022 Greater New Orleans Jobs Report which includes an extensive overview of top occupations in the region.  This is the fourth installment in an annual series of reports which analyzes current and future employment trends in traditional and emerging industries.  The 2022 Jobs Report will help shape investments in workforce development and education programming in South Louisiana.

“This report explores the evolving workforce needs that companies in our region are experiencing as they grow and innovate in the global marketplace,” said Michael Hecht, President and CEO of Greater New Orleans, Inc. “As our lawmakers and education administrators make critical decisions around investments in education and training, the Jobs Report will provide valuable insights to better serve our friends, family, and neighbors across the region.”

For the past four years, Bank of America has invested in the Greater New Orleans Jobs Report as a gauge of employment trends in the region, and a valuable resource for the deployment of training and education assets. This continued commitment demonstrates that workforce development is a priority for Bank of America and the company’s clients.

The 2022 Jobs Report captures those trends, highlighting actionable data that will help inform educational institutions and training providers on how to best deploy and manage curriculum and program offerings. This strategy ensures that training and educational pathways align directly with skills needed to perform high-wage, high-growth career opportunities.

Key findings from the 2022 report include:

  • The largest growth sectors over the past decade include education, healthcare, logistics, and construction
  • The GNO region has seen steady growth in average weekly wages over the past 5 years, rising 18% over that period
  • Educational attainment in the GNO region is strong and continues to see growth, particularly in high school graduation rates
  • Occupational clusters poised for growth in the region include neurosciences, logistics, video game development, and renewable energy, such as offshore wind and clean hydrogen

These findings will inform upcoming public policy strategies, the development of educational and training offerings, business attraction initiatives, workforce development programs, and private philanthropy support deployed in the region.
