“Congress’ action to extend the NFIP until November 30 is welcome news for Greater New Orleans and, frankly, all of America. Extending the NFIP without a lapse provides certainty to both the housing market and to policyholders that have faithfully paid their premiums that the NFIP will stand by them should a flood occur. We appreciate the extension in authorization as we continue to work on reforms to the NFIP that enhance mitigation options, improve the mapping process, ensure affordability, and increase program participation.”
