Within a 750 mile radius of St. Bernard Port there are 125 metropolitan centers with a population of more than 100 million consumers, nearly 1/3 of the entire U. S. population. Cargo off-loaded at the Port is transported to cities across the nation by barges, rail cars, and trucks. All terminals have access to all six Class One Railroads, as well as Interstate highways I-10, I-610 and I-510. The river connects to the Industrial Canal, the Intercoastal Waterway and the Gulf of Mexico.
