Vol. 26: SII the Future
Recently, GNO, Inc. unveiled its “Sustainable Industries Initiative” (SII), aimed at making Southeast Louisiana the “Silicon Valley” of environmental solutions.
SII was developed via original research, talking to over 50 corporate executives from Fortune 1000 companies around the world. What they said was that supply-chain demands, increased regulation, and consumer preferences are all exerting pressure on their profits – and they need someone to help.
That someone can be us. With our experience and resources, the Greater New Orleans region is particularly suited to provide products and services in areas including water and disaster management, waste mitigation, and energy. These sustainable services will help companies not only manage environmental issues but even profit from them (e.g., waste-to-energy technology).
SII is already being borne out by real companies: Jefferson-based Ballista Storm Systems was recently showcased on CNBC; St. Charles-based Dow Chemical now has an SVP of Sustainability; Blade Dynamics will bring 600 jobs to New Orleans; and GNO, Inc. has SII business development prospects, from around the world, worth over 1,500 real, well-paying jobs.
SII is market-based, research-driven, and jobs-focused. SII represents an opportunity to sustain the environment while we diversify our economy. This is how we SII the Future.
