GNO, Inc. Sunday Night Highlights – Northshore Grows Legacy & Future Jobs
As recently reported by Fox 8, the Northshore of Greater New Orleans has become “a hotbed of transformation, experiencing unprecedented growth.”
Two recent announcements typify this growth, with legacy industries doubling down, and entrepreneurship bubbling up:
Chevron – Chevron Corporation, with its Gulf of Mexico headquarters in Covington, announced a technological breakthrough that will allow the company to start pumping oil from the Anchor oilfield, which operates in approximately mile-deep water 140 miles off the coast of Louisiana. Brent Gros, Vice President, Gulf of Mexico Business Unit at Chevron, said this advancement will help secure over 500 Chevron Northshore jobs. The technology developed by Chevron, together with oil services company Transocean and other partners, has made it possible to operate deepwater oil and gas extraction at higher pressure than previous limits. “First oil from Anchor is a major technological milestone in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, culminating from a decadelong effort from operators, service companies and regulators,” Wood Mackenzie analyst Mfon Usoro wrote. Palette – To help develop new technologies – and new entrepreneurs – Palette, a workspace & resource community, is opening its first location in St. Tammany at the end of 2024, in the office complex at 201 Holiday Boulevard in Covington. Palette was founded by Louisiana native Catherine Hover, who built two successful Palette locations in New York. Co-founders of Palette Northshore include former President and CEO of Stirling Properties Marty Mayer, estate advisor Bradley Cook and local entrepreneur Rory Gallardo. Palette Northshore’s physical space, designed by Greenleaf Architects, features multiple co-working spaces and private offices, event space, conference rooms, a podcast studio, outdoor workspace, and a connected café.
