GNO, Inc. Sunday Night Highlight – Super Bowl Infrastructure: “If we win, we win together”
This past week, the media profiled the massive range of infrastructure work underway in the New Orleans region in preparation for Super Bowl LIX, February 9, 2025.
The Times-Picayune / Advocate ran a long-form interview, with the apt headline, “If we win, we win together,”
National news website Axios published a summary piece, titled, “New Orleans has about 200 days and 400 things to do before it hosts the Super Bowl”
It is indeed exciting to see hundreds of road, sidewalk, lighting, drainage and other projects underway. Not to mention the beautification efforts, like Brandan “BMIKE” Odum’s new mural with his youth mentorship program, Eternal Seeds.
But the most exhilarating aspect of this ambitious Super Bowl infrastructure effort is the daily teamwork between the over 40 local, state and private entities that are all coming together to win. As State Coordinator for Infrastructure and Economic Development, I’d like to recognize and thank all of those who are working so hard to improve New Orleans not only for Super Bowl LIX, but for years to come after:
And many others…
Taking a step back to look at the overall effort for Super Bowl LIX – it is a “mini-Olympics – it is important to recognize:
- Governor Jeff Landry, who has prioritized both New Orleans and the Super Bowl
- Mrs. Benson and the Saints – the sine qua non of New Orleans hosting the Super Bowl for a record-tying 11th time
- Mayor LaToya Cantrell, for proclaiming this the “Summer of Super Bowl”!
- The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, and President/CEO Jay Cicero, leading the overall Super Bowl effort, including 15 critical subcommittees
- Marcus Brown of Entergy, Chairman of the Super Bowl LIX Host Committee
