GNO, Inc. Sunday Night Highlight: Louisiana Has Big Gulf Energy ⚡️
On Tuesday, GNO, Inc.-led Louisiana Future Energy joined the Louisiana Oil & Gas Association (LOGA), the Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil & Gas Association (LMOGA), and the National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA) to host the Gulf Coast Energy Forum in New Orleans, bringing together hundreds of energy executives, policymakers, and industry leaders to examine what’s shaping the future of offshore development in the Gulf. The program included:
- U.S. Rep. Julia Letlow, Interior Deputy Secretary Kate MacGregor, and Louisiana Secretary of Energy Dustin Davidson
- Executives from Shell, Chevron, LLOG Exploration, and Arena Energy
- Myself and GNO, Inc. Chief External Affairs Officer, Jasmine Brown DeRousselle
The conference was held amid an unprecedented energy boom in Louisiana, which alone exports over 60% of America’s LNG. The day after the conference, the federal government opened bids on Lease Sale Big Beautiful Gulf 3 (BBG3), the third of at least 30 Gulf lease sales required under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Results included:
- $83 million in high bids for 59 blocks, about 76 percent more than March’s sale
- 16 companies submitted 69 bids, up from 13 companies in March
- Bids covered roughly 330,000 acres, about 0.4 percent of the 81 million acres offered across the Gulf’s Western, Central, and Eastern planning areas
The sale, held in New Orleans, lands amid a bigger structural shift. The Interior Department is merging the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement into a new Marine Minerals Administration to create better coordination.
