Innovation Internship Program

The GNO, Inc. Innovation Internship Program is a groundbreaking initiative created by the Greater New Orleans Region One Center for STEM (GNOrocs), a program of GNO, Inc. It is designed for undergraduate students attending four-year colleges and universities in Louisiana or who have permanent residency in the Greater New Orleans area.
GIIP is an eight-week, paid internship program that allows students to cultivate marketable skills and build standout résumés. With five distinct tracks to choose from—Startup (Entrepreneurship), STEM, Engineering, Energy, and Venture Capital/Private Equity—GIIP opens doors to innovation, industry exposure, and professional growth.
This program not only connects students with some of the region’s most innovative industries and employers, but also offers hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, energy, engineering, venture capital/private equity, and STEM-related fields—helping students gain access to high-wage, high-growth career pathways.
HOW IT WORKS
The GNO, Inc. Innovation Internship Program is a highly competitive and rigorous initiative that cultivates emerging talent from colleges and universities across Louisiana. The selection process, led by the GNO Region One Center for STEM (GNOrocs), begins each fall and includes multiple phases designed to identify and match top student candidates with forward-thinking companies seeking innovative interns.
Engineering
This track connects aspiring engineering students with leading firms in mechanical, electrical, software, aerospace, civil, and chemical engineering. Participants gain hands-on learning opportunities in their respective fields, helping to prepare them for successful engineering careers.
S.T.E.M.
The STEM track immerses undergraduate students in real-world projects with leading industries, equipping them with the skills and confidence to excel in high-demand careers. At the same time, it provides employers with direct access to emerging talent ready to drive innovation and strengthen the region’s STEM economy.
Startup
This track is designed to boost startup activity among students and graduates in Louisiana by offering hands-on, paid internships. Participants gain exposure to entrepreneurial ideation and business development, helping to foster a culture of innovation and startup success within the region.
Energy
As part of the regionwide H2theFuture initiative, this track allows students to explore careers in clean and renewable energy, with a focus on the Gulf Coast’s expanding energy economy. Through immersive internships, students contribute to South Louisiana’s efforts to become a global leader in the energy sector.
Venture Capital & Private Equity
This track offers students an opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of the venture capital and private equity sectors by exploring how startups and early-stage companies secure funding. Interns learn the intricacies of investment, risk analysis, and the financial processes that drive business growth for emerging enterprises.
