Advanced Manufacturing Grows at NASA MAF

Yesterday, GNO, Inc., along with Louisiana Governor Edwards, New Orleans Mayor Landrieu, and a team of State and City partners announced three projects at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans:

  • Boeing – Mission-to-Mars project
  • Sinter Metals (Turkey/Liechtenstein) – Advanced Manufacturing (metals)
  • Advanced Cutting Solutions – Advanced Manufacturing (composite materials)

This announcement is validation of the strategy to redevelop Michoud as a diversified pubic-private facility, following the termination of the Space Shuttle program in 2011.  Starting with English manufacturer Blade Dynamics, today over 15 companies call Michoud home, from advanced manufacturing firms like Textron, to medical like Ochsner, and even to occasional film production.  Also, Sinter Metals furthers Louisiana’s position of #1 in the USA for foreign direct investment (per capita), representing the first investment from Liechtenstein in Greater New Orleans.
