Business Retention

Greater New Orleans, Inc. offers a Business Retention and Expansion Program to assist in the growth of existing businesses. Since 80% of new jobs are created by existing companies, GNO, Inc. has made this program a priority of our business development efforts, meeting with an average of 150 current employers each year to help companies grow and stay competitive. The goals of the initiative are to retain jobs, expand businesses, and improve the overall health of companies in the region.

Through confidential meetings, a GNO, Inc. representative captures information about a business and determines what resources are available to help the business grow. Staff members at GNO, Inc. can assist in the exploration of state and local incentives that are available to companies for job creation and expansion. Aside from these programs, other resources available provide assistance with marketing, workforce training, management solutions, market research, and business referrals. A GNO, Inc. staff member can also support companies expanding their facilities by conducting comprehensive real estate searches to locate available buildings and land throughout the region.

GNO Inc. can serve as the single point of contact for local, regional, or state issues that may hinder business growth. As a result of meetings with participating companies in 2010, GNO, Inc. was made aware of roadblocks that some industries had experienced and took action to have them resolved. GNO, Inc. assisted with legislation to remove Cap & Trade restrictions and legislation to prevent Card Check regulations. In response to the oil spill, we launched the Coastal Vitality Project to provide information and resources to businesses and individuals impacted by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. In conjunction with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC), we led a coalition of business groups to help mitigate the impact of budget cuts on higher education.
