Gov. Edwards And Jani-King Gulf Coast Break Ground On $4.5 Million Ponchatoula Headquarters Expansion

PONCHATOULA, La. — Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards and Jani-King Gulf Coast CEO Thomas Enmon broke ground on a new 18,000-square-foot corporate headquarters facility in Ponchatoula. The company will make a $4.5 million capital investment to develop the new headquarters location, which will replace the company’s current location in downtown Ponchatoula. The new corporate headquarters will be located northeast of the Interstate 55 interchange with Louisiana Highway 22.

Details were shared in a press release.

With the new headquarters facility, the company will retain 74 existing jobs in Ponchatoula and create 10 new direct jobs. The new direct jobs will provide an average salary of $43,350, plus benefits. Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project also will result in 31 new indirect jobs, for a total of 41 new jobs in Tangipahoa Parish.

“The expansion of the Jani-King Gulf Coast headquarters in Ponchatoula is a testament to the company’s strategic growth, resulting from the strong business acumen of its leaders,” said Gov. Edwards. “Louisiana is proud to be home to the largest master franchise for Jani-King, and I am confident that the company’s renewed commitment to Louisiana will result in dividends for the community and our state. As a proud partner in the community, Jani-King Gulf Coast is invested in the success of Louisiana.”

Since launching in 1969, Jani-King has grown into the world’s largest commercial cleaning franchise company, operating 130 support offices. Jani-King Gulf Coast is the largest master franchise in the Jani-King system, with more than 500 Jani-King franchises stretching from Texas to Georgia.

“This project has taken two years of planning. It was a bigger project than we anticipated and there were many people and agencies involved to finalize the start date,” Enmon said. “This building will give Jani-King Gulf Coast the much-needed space to hire additional employees to serve our 500 franchisees that service 3,400 customers located within our six-state area. We are glad it is in Ponchatoula, and very much want to thank the many people that helped us get to this point.”

Opening its Ponchatoula headquarters in 1988, Jani-King Gulf Coast strategically grew its network of regional offices and commercial cleaning services to businesses throughout the Southeastern U.S. Through its franchises, the company reaches thousands of customers and provides a variety of services. These services include office and building cleaning, hotel and resort housekeeping, healthcare services, manufacturing facility cleaning, bank cleaning, stadium and event cleaning, government building cleaning, retail cleaning, restaurant cleaning, and school and university cleaning.

“Congratulations to my longtime friend Tom Enmon and Jani-King Gulf Coast on its construction start here in Ponchatoula,” said Ponchatoula Mayor Bob Zabbia. “Jani-King could have chosen anywhere in the Gulf Coast to locate its regional office but Tom chose his hometown. For that, we are grateful. We wish you, Chance and Casey the greatest success.”

LED began working with Jani-King Gulf Coast on a potential headquarters project in April 2018. To secure the project, the State of Louisiana offered the company a competitive incentive package that includes a $100,000 performance-based grant to facilitate lease support. Additionally, the company is expected to utilize the state’s Enterprise Zone Program.

“Tangipahoa is grateful for Jani-King Gulf Coast and the commitment of the Enmon family to invest in the parish through their company’s expansion and construction of their new corporate headquarters in Ponchatoula,” said Executive Director Ginger Cangelosi of Tangipahoa Economic Development Foundation. “This is another example of the successful multigenerational legacy of companies that choose to call Tangipahoa home. We couldn’t be prouder to help celebrate their success.”

“We commend Jani-King Gulf Coast as it continues to add corporate capacity and jobs here in the Greater New Orleans region,” said President and CEO Michael Hecht of Greater New Orleans Inc. “Growing their corporate headquarters in Ponchatoula is a validation of Jani-King’s commitment to Louisiana and the Gulf Coast.”
