N.O. chosen as Co-Major Market of the Year, Louisiana as State of the Year
Louisiana turned eight deals of $300 million or more in investment and two of those were $1 billion or more. No state did that this year. It also landed 71 big projects of $30 million or more in investment and/or 200 or more jobs.
The state had some impressive job-generating projects such as Blade Dynamics and Nucor Steel, but it was the sheer number of investment deals that took Louisiana to the top. Oil and gas and the chemical industry just went nutty-nut in 2010 and Louisiana was the beneficiary with 58 huge capital-intensive projects of $30 million or more.
