THE TECH HUB AT NOBIC

In collaboration with Louisiana Economic Development, Louisiana Community and Technical College System, and New Orleans BioInnovation Center, GNO, Inc. is proud to help coordinate a new physical space and tech training programs: The Tech Hub at NOBIC.

For Greater New Orleans residents seeking a new career, The Tech Hub offers programming to prepare enrolled students for a rewarding job in an innovative field.

The Mission:

  1. Collaboration between regional higher education institutions, training providers, and industry partners
  2. Offer training partnerships that create innovative talent pipelines for both entry-level and mid-level tech workers
  3. Fortify the region’s inclusive tech standing (per capita, the New Orleans metro is currently #4 for women and African Americans in tech)
  4. Foster continued growth of the digital media and technology sectors in the region
  5. Create training gateways for local residents to enter a high-wage, high-demand career

This programming will enhance the quality of life for all  by providing educational services that promote personal, professional, and economic development in the Greater New Orleans region.The Tech Hub provides education and training to meet the needs of business and industry, while offering new opportunities to local residents.

Curriculum

Delgado Community College is the first training provider to offer technology and digital media training courses at The Tech Hub, located in the New Orleans BioInnovation Center (NOBIC).

Curriculum:

IT Fundamentals – Knowledge about basic IT concepts, troubleshooting devices, and identifying/preventing security risks

IT Networking – The essential IT skills and knowledge needed to perform tasks commonly performed by advanced end-users and entry-level IT professionals

IT Cybersecurity – Core knowledge required of any cybersecurity role and provides a springboard to intermediate-level cybersecurity jobs

AWS Cloud Foundations – AWS Cloud concepts, core AWS services, security, architecture, pricing, and support to build AWS Cloud knowledge

Scrum Master – Applying the Scrum Master role within a SAFe® enterprise with Certified SAFe® Scrum Master

Cybersecurity Analyst – Applying behavioral analytics to networks to improve overall security through identifying and combating malware and advanced persistent threats (APTs)

About the Tech Hub

Delgado Community College offers courses that are affordable and below market rates to dissolve financial barriers for those seeking a career change. The courses are fast-paced to ensure that more time is spent in the field than in the classroom.

Training & Audience:

  • Initial course offerings will be: AWS Cloud Computing, Comp TIA+, and Scrum Master
  • Courses are short-term (6-12 weeks), result in industry-based credentials upon completion
  • GNO, will work with training providers and employers to adjust training to meet regional employer needs
  • Target audience for these programs are:
    • Greater New Orleans residents seeking new career opportunities
    • Individuals comfortable with technical concepts and computing environments

New Orleans BioInnovation Center (NOBIC)

The New Orleans BioInnovation Center (NOBIC) is a private, not-for-profit business incubator, supporting entrepreneurship and dedicated to the development of bioscience innovation throughout Louisiana.

NOBIC Highlights:

  • Located at 1441 Canal St, New Orleans 70112, NOBIC’s strategic location in downtown New Orleans provides adequate public transportation access and offers walkability to/from large employment areas in the Central Business District
