H2theFuture Complementary Competitive Grants

In September 2022, a Greater New Orleans regional partnership was awarded a $50 million federal grant to develop a new energy cluster in South Louisiana, spanning the clean hydrogen life cycle, from R&D at Louisiana universities, to an end-use demonstration projects.  This grant was awarded through Economic Development Administration’s Build Back Better Regional Challenge, a competition created by the American Rescue Plan Act.

Recently adopted federal legislation has established additional programs, which stand to benefit the region and complement the H2theFuture strategy.  To build off of the Build Back Better Regional Challenge, competitive opportunities – as created through provisions within the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and the CHIPS and Science Act – are identified below.
