GNO, Inc. is committed to providing support to the State’s workforce reform plan and developing programs to recruit, train and place a qualified workforce.

Goals:

  • Engage the region’s business community and continue to advocate for state and federal workforce reforms that assures a quality workforce.
  • Enhance the quality of and access to education and training programs.
  • Work with the four target sectors to identify workforce needs and implement strategies to address them.

GNO, Inc. provides leadership and insight through participation in a wide variety of workforce initiatives and partnerships. This participation seeks to build a demand-driven regional workforce system that is responsive to needs of both employers and job seekers. GNO, Inc. has fostered strong regional collaboration to leverage resources, eliminate redundancy, and achieve regional job growth and investment in targeted industry sectors. Partnerships that focus on collaborative industry sector initiatives have resulted in enhanced quality of education and training programs throughout the region. They also provide area employers with motivated and skilled applicants, and increase access to career opportunties in the regon. This systemic approach to workforce development includes just-in-time training initiatives designed around the needs of existing and emerging business and industry sectors. These initiatives target K-12 youth, unemployed, underemployed, and incumbent workers.

The workforce team at GNO, Inc. provides leadership and insight through forming and convening workforce projects based on key economic sectors and systems improvement. The focus is to:

  • Create a demand driven regional workforce development system that meets the needs of job seekers and employers.
  • Align and leverage resources, eliminate redundancy, and provide regional employers with a pipeline of skilled workers.
  • Enhance the quality of and access to education and training programs. Address the needs of existing and emerging business and industry sector initiatives.
  • Target K-12 youth, passive job seekers, un and underemployed, and incumbent workers.

Regional Workforce Analysis

This supply, demand, and gap analysis study is the first of its kind to provide critical information on the strengths and weaknesses of the regional workforce, and lay out a strategy among the regional workforce stakeholders.
