Digital Media Alliance

Mission Statement
GNO, Inc.‘s Digital Media Alliance is aggressively developing the digital and new media industries of the Greater New Orleans region. The DMA works to provide a common forum for technology-focused creative and digital industries, connecting them with like minded businesses, academia, and government, and acting as a cohesive unit to support the growh of this burgeoning sector and make the Greater New Orleans region a hub of digital media business and culture.

Focus Areas:

  • Business Development – Peer-to-peer marketing of the region as a place to locate or grow digital and new media companies. One of Greater New Orleans’ strengths is the ever growing community of like-minded businesses and entrpreneurs working with a digital focus. By meeting with businesses visiting here or enticing them to spend some time in New Orleans because of the work being done, the culture, and the incentive-rich environment, the business development committee plays an active role in building our community.

  • Workforce – The landscape of the business community in New Orleans is rapidly changing from a more traditional industry to more tech-centric industries, and students must be graduatign with the knowledge to meet the needs of the business sector. The workforce committee additionally realizes the importance of a vibrant and pertinent educational system for attracting businesses to the region. With these ideas at the forefront of their thoughts, the DMA collaborates with universities and colleges to develop curricula that support the workforce needs of the digital media industry.

  • Policy – Besides a uniquely collegial peer-to-peer network that has garnered national media attention, one of the best advantages to doing creative and digital work in the Greater New Orleans region is the robust selection of incenties. These important tools must not be overlooked; therefore, the DMA Policy Committee continually advocates for policies, tax law and incentives that create the conditions for growth of the digital media industry. Currently, Louisiana offers incentives for Interactive Production, Sound Recording, Live Performance, and Motion Picture. For more information on these incentives, view the Business Incentives section on our website.

  • Capital – The DMA realizes that access to capital is important to everyone’s business needs. The DMA Capital Committee is working to encourage the formation of a rich and liquid early-stage capital market to stimulate deal flow. Additionally, they work to provide a network to connect creative individuals and potential investors. While the DMA has no capital of its own to invest, they are diligent about creating a financial enviornment attractive to venture capital and angel investors alike.
