Vol. 30: Giving Thanks for Greater New Orleans

Up to 90% of job gain – and 100% of job loss – will come from existing businesses. This is why GNO, Inc. has a focused Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) practice, with dedicated staff. On an on-going basis, GNO, Inc., along with parish partners, meets with regional businesses in order to trouble-shoot problems and discover indigenous growth opportunities.

As part of BRE, we conduct an annual survey of regional businesses. This year GNO, Inc. and parish partners spoke with 165 companies, and the results are noteworthy:

  • 73% plan to expand (2010 = 66%)
  • 59% anticipate increased employment needs (2010 = 47%)
  • 68% plan for new products or services (2010 = 55%)
  • 68% report a growing market (2010 = 61%)
  • 89% report no issues with growing within the GNO region (2010 = 78%)
  • 96% rate GNO a 5 or higher out of 7 as a place to run a business (2010 = 96%)

In short, Greater New Orleans businesses seem happy to be doing business in the region. For this, GNO, Inc. is thankful — for both our companies and the broad improvements that have made these strong scores possible.

Happy Thanksgiving from GNO, Inc.
