Vol. 28: There’s a New Game in Town

Earlier this month, we were thrilled to announce that Gameloft—the #2 developer of mobile games in the world—has decided to establish a major development studio in Greater New Orleans. Now, this is exciting in and of itself, as Gameloft is committing to close to 150 jobs at an average salary of $69,000 plus benefits.

But what is even more exciting is the message that Gameloft’s announcement will send to the rest of the world: Greater New Orleans is the new destination for software development.

The internet is buzzing with the Gameloft story. Louisiana wasn’t even on the list when Gameloft began its search. But by the end, we were the clear winner – not only beating established tech hubs on cost and incentives, but also delivering an astounding 1,350 resumes for Gameloft’s first 15 positions, totally debunking the myth that New Orleans lacks or can’t attract the talent.

Earlier this year, Forbes named Greater New Orleans the “#1 Metro for IT Job Growth” in the U.S.A. That was before Gameloft chose us; going forward, this technology job growth should only accelerate.

There’s a new game in town. And Greater New Orleans is winning.
