Greater New Orleans Urban Water Plan Wins American Planning Association’s Louisiana Chapter Excellence Award for a Plan

New Orleans, LA — On January 30, The Greater New Orleans Urban Water Plan Team and Waggonner & Ball Architects received the Planning Excellence Award for the Greater New Orleans Urban Water Plan. This award was presented at the American Planning Association, Louisiana Chapter’s State Planning Conference in New Orleans.

“We congratulate Waggonner & Ball and their international team of water experts for receiving the Planning Excellence Award for the Greater New Orleans Urban Water Plan,” said Michael Hecht, President of CEO of Greater New Orleans, Inc. “In a world of increasing weather volatility, implementation of the Urban Water Plan is imperative to our region’s economic future as well as to our safety and quality of life. This award recognizes Louisiana’s expertise and experience that is and will be valuable to addressing water challenges nationally and globally.

“Working with water in Louisiana is elemental,” said David Waggonner, Principal at Waggonner and Ball Architects. “It’s the source of who we are, the reason we are here. Making water the root of our urban plan restores the balance we need to adapt and gives us a sound, attractive basis for long term investment.”
