From Lt. Governor Mitch Landreiu:

We hope you plan to be in New Orleans for our first full-scale Forum. We look forward to meeting with you on October 30 and welcome your voice in our conversation where we will:

  • Welcome national and international visitors to Louisiana from around the globe to discuss best practices for growing cultural industries as key segments of a global economy.
  • Build cultural economic development opportunities through the strategic convening of cultural ambassadors and leaders from around the world.
  • Position Louisiana as the driving force of the global cultural economy movement by positioning the state to become the World Economic Forum of culture, hosting a spectrum of international participation through three components including:

    • Two-day forum in New Orleans Oct. 30-31 for world cultural economy leaders from approximately 60 countries to discuss best practices for growing cultural industries

    • A World Bazaar and Marketplace showcasing artisans and vendors from around the world in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center Oct. 31 – Nov. 1

    • October Passport Events across the state showcasing all of Louisiana’s unique cultural assets including more than 100 events in 26 parishes across the state

The WCEF will provide the opportunity to explore best practices and engage in critical conversations for improving our cultural economies, growing culture and engendering creativity. In addition, the convening will allow participants to promote their assets, expand markets and discover avenues to success.
