New Orleans, LA – Greater New Orleans, Inc., the regional economic alliance, will announce the findings of its Regional Workforce Survey on November 13, 2008 at 10:30 AM. In partnership with the LCTCS, LWC, and LED, GNO, Inc. retained the nationally acclaimed Younger Associates and The Wadley-Donovan Group, a highly regarded workforce research team, to conduct the regional analysis. This supply, demand, and gap analysis study is the first of its kind to provide critical information on the strengths and weaknesses of the regional workforce, and lay out a strategy among the regional workforce stakeholders.

The study was commissioned to quantify the supply and quality of the workforce, identify hidden workers to help with business retention and attraction efforts, determine the demand by industry sector, and identify the gaps and recommendations to address the gaps.

“There is a huge demand for jobs in the Greater New Orleans region,” Michael Hecht said, and as we continue to experience the economic growth and ongoing investment of a recovery economy, we must identify the needs of our regional businesses to ensure we keep the recovery moving.”

Woody Oge, Chair of the GNO, Inc. Talent Development Committee added, “The goal here is to better position our regional businesses to meet the challenges of the future through a well-trained workforce. This study will help us identify the next steps to face what has become the single largest issue facing our recovery.”
