Future Building Fridays
Over the next ten years, the GNO economy will need to fill 67,000 job openings across our foundational and diversifying sectors. We know that Career Technical Education (CTE) holds great promise by providing meaningful training toward high-wage, high-growth middle skill jobs. At the same time, the lead influencers on student post-secondary life trajectories (counselors, teachers, and parents) are often unaware that these careers exist, let alone, how to access aligned training.
Educators must constantly update their knowledge and skills about current workplace practices, requirements, and tools by gaining an “on the ground” understanding of economic and career trends that will affect their students. Through first-hand interactions with employers in our regional sectors of focus, our Future Building Fridays pilot offers guidance counselors the opportunity to see, touch, and feel the array of jobs available to technically trained high school graduates.
