Colleges & Universities
There are currently eight private colleges and universities, three public institutions, and two seminaries that serve the Greater New Orleans region. There are also four professional schools that function in the area: Tulane University School of Medicine, Tulane University Law School, Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, and the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.
Eligible students who enroll in participating schools, which include Louisiana Public Colleges and Universities can benefit from the Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS). This program provides tuition payments to applicants who meet the required qualifications. These criteria include, but are not limited to:
- CORE 4 Curriculum graduate with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.50 on a 4.0 scale.
- An ACT score of 17 or an SAT score of 820
- Legal guardian or parent residency in the State of Louisiana for 24 months leading up to graduation
