Greater New Orleans Regional Infrastructure

  • Greater New Orleans has access to two interstate corridors – I-10 and I-12 – that cross the region, linking the region along a primary east-west corridor with large markets in Texas and Florida. The region also has access to two secondary north-south interstate corridors – I-55 and I-59 – linking the region with Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. This interstate access provides excellent truck and distribution access from ports along the Mississippi River to population centers in the Gulf Coast and into the Mississippi River Valley regions.
  • The Greater New Orleans area enjoys a favorable location for railroad connections. Six Class I railroads in North America are connected by the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad, making it one of the most well connected regions for rail in the U.S.
  • Non-stop air routes from the Greater New Orleans area are expansive, heavily covering the Mid-West, Southeast, and Mid-Atlantic. International flight service is available to Mexico City with a connection to San Pedro Sula.
